For the idea you want to understand, the subject you keep meaning to explore, or the connection you didn’t know to look for.
Choose from 200 curated scientific and philosophical ideas, or type a topic of your own. Concepts appear as they arrive, with explanations filling in behind them.
Wander into related ideas, open a deeper explanation, or ask a question attached to a specific concept. The conversation stays beside the idea it belongs to.
Switch between radial and tree layouts. Follow colored branches, focus on one thread, or return to the origin. Saved explorations stay on your computer, ready to revisit.
CURIOSITY, WITH JUDGMENT
Use Research with sources when you want a web-backed follow-up with links to inspect. Ordinary explanations are AI-generated, not automatically source-checked.
Choose from models available through your installed Codex or Claude CLI, adjust supported reasoning settings, and run up to three explorations at once. You choose where to look next and which claims deserve a closer check.
BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD
Drift runs in your browser from your own computer. This page is a demo, not a hosted version of the app.
Python 3.11 or newer, internet access, and a current installed and signed-in Codex or Claude CLI. Drift uses your own AI service access or subscription, with its usage limits. The app does not install these prerequisites for you.
The download includes separate macOS and Windows double-click starters for the same app. Windows compatibility code has automated checks, but an end-to-end run on a physical Windows PC has not yet been tested.
Saved explorations stay on your computer. Selected prompts and relevant context are sent to your chosen AI provider. AI generation needs internet access. Drift does not offer cloud sync or offline AI.
No. Models can make mistakes, including when they provide sources. Use the explicit Research with sources action for web-backed follow-up, open the links, and check important claims yourself. A compelling connection is a starting point, not proof.
