Blondin crossed the gorge again and again that summer and the next: blindfolded, in a sack, pushing a wheelbarrow, on stilts, and once stopping halfway to cook an omelette. He kept performing into his seventies, and died at home in London, in a house he had named Niagara Villa, in 1897, aged 72.
